10 Free Fonts Used by The Oatmeal

This is a list of the fonts most commonly used on my website along with links to download them. The first few are handwritten and primarily used in speech bubbles, and the rest are used for headlines and other copy.

This is the handwritten font I use the most, created by Kimberly Geswein

Book Signings in San Francisco, Seattle, and Marysville

San Francisco - Saturday, April 16th 3:30pm

Tickets are sold out to the theater presentation of this book signing, but you can still attend if you want to meet me and get some stuff signed. We'll be selling books along with a bunch of other merchandise, including shirts, stickers, and other Oatmeal goodies, so if you want a poster or shirt it's a good way to get some Oatmeal merchandise without paying for shipping.

Costco Seattle - Saturday, April 30th 11:00am

I'm doing a second book signing in Seattle and this time it's at the Costco in SoDo. I'm hoping that they'll let me give a presentation from a podium I built out of oversized cans of nacho cheese dip and mayonnaise. I'll be talking about the history of The Oatmeal, doing some Q&A, and then signing books. A Costco membership is required.

Wit's End Bookstore Marysville, WA

Saturday, May 7th 12:00pm

My sister owns a used bookstore in the small town of Marysville, Washington and we decided to have a book signing there to celebrate the end of the tour. We'll have snacks and beverages and most of my family will be there (be nice to them or I'll invite my sex offender uncle and not tell you which person he is). Copies of the book will be available on-hand for purchase as well as all the merchandise available in The Oatmeal Shop, including some newer items:
Bobcats Coffee Mugs

Random comic button added

Just an eensy-teensy update: I added a random button to all my comics that will now allow you to randomly browse through all my comics. It's a bit more passive way of reading my site and doesn't require you to hunt down which ones you have or haven't read. Also, I added some categories at the top of each comic which groups some of my most popular comics, as well as ones themed around cats, grammar, and so forth.

For the next 7 days I'm donating 100% of profits from book sales to the Japan Relief Fund

Update: The 7 days are up! Thanks for everyone who contributed. I'll post sales figures as soon as I have them.

I realize I'm super late to the game on this, but I figured it's better late than never to help out. For the next seven days, my publisher and I are donating 100% of profits from book sales to the Japan Relief Fund.

Also, the price dropped back down on Amazon and you can currently get the book for $8.99. It's discounted on BarnesAndNoble.com as well.

It's also at other online outlets for as low as $7.75, although the prices tend to roll up and down so you have to keep an eye out. You can also pick one up in-person at a Barnes and Noble retail location or a variety of other places. I'll be counting sales from today, April 1 until next friday April 8. Sales will be counted from everywhere, including overseas purchases as well as digital formats such as iBooks.

The Oatmeal is coming to San Francisco (for reals this time)

Update: The theater has sold out, but you can still attend if you want to meet me and get a book signed.
Since my Palo Alto event was a bit out of the way, I've decided to do one more book signing in downtown San Francisco. It's on April 16 in Japan Town at the New People VIZ Cinema.

The VIZ Cinema

Important: you need to read this if you're planning on attending

At my book signings I give a short presentation along with a slideshow of funny things. The SF signing is taking place in a theater which only has a limited number of seats, so in order to see the presentation and participate in Q&A, you have to buy a ticket here (Update: event is sold out) which gets you a copy of my book. Upon arrival tell them your name and they'll have your copy on-hand and you'll be given a wristband which will get you into the presentation. This enables us to save seats for people who purchase a book. Also, in addition to books I'll have other merchandise on sale at the event, including shirts, stickers, posters, and coffee mugs.

SEATS ARE LIMITED SO REGISTER EARLY!

If you don't register, however, you can still attend

If you don't register you can still attend and get your stuff signed, you just won't be able to go into the theater to watch the presentation. You'll just have to get in the book signing line afterwards, which should start at around 3:45 - 4pm.

IN SHORT:

  • Presentation starts at 3pm but you have to buy a ticket to attend (update: event has sold out), which gets you a copy of my book.
  • If you don't get a ticket, you can still go and get your stuff signed, you just won't be able to squeeze into the theater to see the presentation.
  • 12pm Oatmeal merchandise starts selling in the lobby
  • 2:30pm Doors open
  • 3pm - 4:00pm Oatmeal Presentation and Q&A; for ticket-holders
  • 4pm - General book signing, open to the public
